Al Raha Beach
Al Raha Beach is going to be one of the finest places in Abu Dhabi - currently it is still under construction. Once completed, Abu Dhabi will be sure to prove that it is just as grand as its brother emirate, Dubai, because it can be said that Al Raha Beach will have perfect "Dubaic" proportions: It is going to occupy an area of no less than 6.8 million square meters, giving home to at least 120 thousand residents! As the name says, the project is located right on the beach, on reclaimed land (which means that, partially, this land is actually being built from scratch). Its location is the North East of Abu Dhabi, which means it's in the direction of Dubai. In fact it touches on the highway which in Dubai is called Sheikh Zayed Road.
The building process follows similar ideas to those that have become so popular in Dubai: Be wholesome, combine working, living - and playing, and at the same time: Be diverse!, - as different people have different needs. There will be a huge collection of high rises, many of which surpassing 60 storeys, displaying many different nuances of post-modern architecture. Then there will be smaller buildings, and even houses and villas. The area will be completely mixed: Many residents will have their workplaces in the same buildings as their homes, or at least in the immediate vicinity.
Al Raha Beach is being built divided into exactly eight residential and business districts, each of them having their very own and distinct character and atmosphere. Here are some examples: Khor Al Raha is located on Al Raha Beach's East side - this is a luxury gated-community, consisting of townhouses, villas, and freehold apartments. Al Rumaila constitutes a series of man-made peninsulas, extending into the Persian Gulf. Residents will have several marinas all for themselves.
With the creation of Al Raha Beach, Abu Dhabi has truly shown that it is not a follower of trends, but a trendsetter. It is now a more shining alternative to Dubai than ever.
