Business Bay

Business Bay is a business development area currently under construction in the heart of Dubai. It enjoys a top location: It is within convenient walking distance from Sheik Zayed Road and Downtown Burj Dubai - that is the place where the tallest man-made structure on Earth, the Burj Dubai, is to be found. Business Bay's name was chosen for a reason: Indeed the built-up area will be surrounding a pleasant looking bay - in fact a part of Dubai Creek, which is currently being extended so it will touch the sea not once but twice. There will be more than 230 skyscrapers in Business Bay, displaying the very healthy mix of commercial and residential that lately has became so typical for Dubai.

Some of them have extremely memorable names, like for example: Sky Tower 1, the Citadel, the Prism, the Skyscraper, Ontario Tower, and the Exchange.. Dubai is known as the world's prime location of superlatives, and Business Bay will be significantly adding to this proud, albeit young tradition. The skyscrapers will as well be writing a new chapter in post-modern architecture, and, as usual, some of the world's most famous architects and engineers have been recruited. Only 15 per cent of the buildings will be offices only, 21 will be purely residential, and all the rest will be internally mixed: For living and working.

This is going to be such a groundbreaking utopia that it is certain to revolutionize international business culture.

Here's the slogan that is used to advertise the new area: "The region's business capital". Of course, advertisers tend to exaggerate, but here they clearly have a point. Once Business Bay is completed, the economy of the whole Gulf region will indeed have changed - that's how big the impact of it is going to be. The costs for the project are gigantic: In the end 30 billion US$ will have been spent, and here's the number of people who will either work and/or reside in Business Bay: At least 270 thousand!

It is still possible to jump on the train, even though it has left the station: Investment is still welcome. By choosing to do so now one can become a participant in the creative process. Dubai has always been welcoming foreign investors with open arms. In fact, this kind of globalized thinking is especially unique given that it belongs to the Arab world. Dubai is now so interconnected with the international community that one can truly say: At Business Bay not Dubai is building, the world is!
