Mirdif

Mirdif is a little town, just about a ten-minute drive away from Dubai Airport. It was developed only recently, and the construction is still ongoing. Like so many of Dubai's new cities, it was completely built from scratch. Where in Europe or North America can anything quite like this be found?! In Dubai, the future of the world has arrived - and it seems to have come with a friendly face, for the living quality in those shiny new places is impressively high. And it is not only about luxury living, far from it. In fact, Dubai is also demonstrating to the world what it is like to go green - and this does not have to lead to lower living standards. Mirdif is a fine example for ecological living and energy efficiency.

Its close proximity to the airport makes it perfect for all those who have to travel a lot and possibly often at short-notice. Of course, it was built with the international business community in mind, that much is obvious. So in Mirdif you can find people from virtually all around the world - and from many different professions. The most common form of dwellings in Mirdif are small and middle-sized villas, most suitable for families with children. Union Properties just finished a new project: Uptown Mirdif is its name, and the New York City reference in its name is of course intended. Uptown naturally features Mirdif's trademark individual homes - but it is also a post-modern shopping pilgrim's paradise of the kind you rarely find:

There are 37 thousand square meters of shopping space, and this with a population of just eight thousand within Mirdif! So those lucky inhabitants can, if they wish, shop without ever having to stop! Here are just some of the brand names that sell in Uptown: Claire's, La Senza, The Legendary Joe Bloggs Clothing Company, Baskin-Robbins, Adidas, and Mothercare, to name but a few. Uptown is built around one central circle, having a style reminiscent of an Italian piazza - and being just as lively.

Mirdif City Centre, another ground-breaking project, is currently under construction. In Mirdif a real-estate train running at high speed has been started. It might be worth to become a passenger now.
