Ras Al Khaimah is one of the smaller Emirates within the UAE. Its population is estimated to be around 300 thousand. With an area of 1.6 thousand square kilometers is is only slightly smaller than London. About 80 percent of the inhabitants live in the capital, Ras Al Khaimah City, which is located on the Persian Golf. The city is still very different from such dazzling mega-metropolises like Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Its atmosphere is a lot more relaxed and laid-back. But of course, this is all set to change soon. When one remembers how Dubai and Abu Dhabi virtually grew out of nothing and that this took just about 20 years, then it is very easy to imagine a similar future for Ras Al Khaimah.
Like Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah is surprisingly green for an area in Arabia.
Mina Al Arab (translation: port of Arabia) was completed in February of 2008, a project by the company China Harbor Engineering. Now this new harbor still needs infrastructure to be built around it, including luxury residences.
